After install my Ubuntu 12.10 and setup it I try to access my online banking. I couldn’t access it, because the Java wasn’t there. So here is how to Install Java on Ubuntu 12.10 (64 bits) and use it on firefox.
Install:
$ sudo apt-get install icedtea6-plugin
Now to have your Java working on firefox use:
$ sudo apt-get install icedtea-plugin
Close your browser, open and enjoy.

Bom dia, fiz todo o procedimento, mas não consegui abrir o BB, uso o firefox e o chromium. Aparece a mesma mensagem que apareceu para o João. Eu também fiz a instalação do java da oracle, mas nada. Usei o seguinte comando para instalar o java.
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:webupd8team/java && sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install oracle-jdk7-installer -y
Estranho. Como você pode ver outros usuários conseguiram, você esta no Ubuntu 12.10? Instalação nova? Parece que você deve ter algo instalado antes de realizar o processo que foi conflitante.
Detalhe, fiz o teste na página do próprio java e roda normalmente e diz que é a versão mais atual. Porém não consigo rodar o BB.
Com o Java da Oracle sempre me dava problemas, com o icedtea que funcionava. Qual resultado do comando “java -version” ?
olá, estou com o mesmo problema do wilson, java perfeitamente instalado, o teste do site java da ok, mas no banco não entra…liguei na central de atendimento e não conseguiram resolver… java vresion: java -version”1.7.0_09″

Mesmo o Ubuntu sendo o meu sistema padrão e favorito, não abro mão de ter outra distro. refiro-me ao Linux Mint “cinnamon instalado” – ele já vem com vários programas instalados e prontos para uso. Nunca tive problemas para acessar o home banking BB pelo firefox do Mint.

Acredito que tenha a opção sim, mas eu particularmente acho mais pratico utilizar a linha de comando já que nesse caso já sei como fazer.
