Ubuntu, VirtualBox 2.2 e USB

Bom dia,

Agora com a nova versão do ubuntu, provavelmente vou postar bastante sobre o mesmo durante está minha etapa de testes e instalações. Não pretendo ensinar como instalar o VirtualBox 2.2, pois como é um pacote .deb é muito simples, simplesmente baixe ele aqui e instale o pacote. Neste post só quero lembrar que devemos selecionar a opção Enable IO APIC em Settings – General – Advanced. (ao menos a minha com winxp não funciona sem essa opção). Então se o seu sistema não estiver inicializando verifique se está opção está selecionada. Agora vamos ao como fazer as portas USB funcionarem na sua maquina virtual.

Para fazer as portas USB funcionarem você deve fazer o seguinte:

Instalar o “Guest additions”, com a maquina virtual rodando acesse Devices – Install Guest additions.

Após instalada a mesma execute no seu terminal:

$ grep vbox /etc/group
O resultado será algo semelhante a isso
vboxusers:x:gid:usuario

(Se não existir nenhum usuario, adicione o seu usuario ao grupo vboxusers)

Edite o arquivo “mountkernfs.sh”
# pico /etc/init.d/mountkernfs.sh

Va até o final do do_start(), e dentro do mesmo (antes do }) adicione a seguinte linha:

domount usbfs “” /proc/bus/usb usbdevfs -onoexec,nosuid,nodev,devgid=GID,devmode=664

(Substitui o GID pelo seu GID que foi visto anteriormente.)

Salve o arquivo, reinicie o computador, e utilize suas usb dentro da maquina virtual.

O site que me fez testar desse modo foi este http://www.davidgrant.ca/virtualbox_usb_windows_xp_guest_ubuntu_hardy mas ele não indicava que era para versão 9.04, então testei e funcionou.

PS: Para que a mesma funcione dentro da maquina virtual você deve ir em Device – USB DEVICES e selecionar o dispositivo que você quer que funcione dentro da maquina virtual.

PS2: Para os que andam acompanhando os tempos de boot que estou conseguindo, após a instalação do virtualbox e feitas as configurações acima estou com um tempo de 28s. (Sem tentar otimizar nada até o momento)

    Right — have been messing about with this thing for maybe a few months now and it’s basically bookmarked at this point, so thought I’d chuck my thoughts in since a mate asked me the other day. Am in the UK, mainly bet football and racing, a fiver here and there, just so you know where I’m coming from.

    How I found it was actually a bit daft — I never could figure out what an each way payout actually came to with 1/5 odds a place. I’d just guess and moan when the payout landed. These days I type the odds in before every slip, even a simple single bet.

    Their single bet calculator is the bit I open most — you drop in stake and odds and you get returns instantly, fractions or decimals. It also handles the multiples — doubles and trebles maths, a lucky 15, yankees, honestly that’s where I always mess it up. Have a go yourself, it’s over at betting accumulator calculator and it’s free with no account nonsense.

    One thing that really made a difference were the more serious bits. They’ve got an implied probability calculator and it makes obvious the overround, and a kelly staking tool — I use half kelly as the full version is a quick route to a dead bankroll. Dutching calculator is handy too if I’m covering two or three runners.

    It’s not perfect mind. The interface looks very functional, let’s say — zero polish, looks like it was built by someone who cares more about maths than colours. Phone-wise it works though the bigger tables need a bit of scrolling. And no proper app, it’s a website and that’s it — fine by me but worth saying.

    Right, that’s me. Costs nowt, barely any ads, does what it says. If anyone still works out returns on a calculator app, give it a go — saved me a load of dumb bets I’d have regretted.

It also handles the multiples — trebles maths, lucky 15s, a yankee, which is where most people I know lose track.     The single bet calculator tool is the part I’m on daily — you put in the price and your stake and it spits out returns with no faffing, fractions or decimals. Same tool covers the fiddly ones — trebles returns, lucky 15s, yankees, honestly that’s where I’d always mess it up. If you fancy a poke about, it’s here yankee bet calculator and there’s no login wall, which I appreciated.

    What genuinely changed how I bet were the geekier bits.
