Ubuntu, VirtualBox 2.2 and USB

Published by Matheus (X-warrior) Bratfisch on April 25, 2009

Hello,

Now, with this new version of ubuntu, i will post alot about it while I’m trying configurations. I don’t want to teach how to install VirtualBox 2.2, because it’s a package .deb and is so easy to install it (Download Sun VirtualBox). In this post I want to remember that we should select the option “Enable IO APIC” in “Settings – General – Advanced”. (My version of WinXp doesn’t work without it). So if you system is not booting, verify this option. Now let’s go to enable USB in your Virtual machine.

You have to install “Guest Additions”, use the menu “Devices – Install Guest Additions”. (Don’t forget to mount it on your cd in virtualbox)

After you install it go to console:

$ grep vbox /etc/group
The result is something similar to this: vboxusers:x:gid:user

(If your user is not there, add it “System – Administration – Users and groups”)

Edit the file “mountkernfs.sh”:
$ sudo pico /etc/init.d/mountkernfs.sh

Go to the end of do_start(), and before the } add this line:
domount usbfs “” /proc/bus/usb usbdevfs -onoexec,nosuid,nodev,devgid=GID,devmode=644

(Replace the GID with your GID)

Save the file, reboot the computer and use your usb in your virtualmachine.

The site that make me try this way is http://www.davidgrant.ca/virtualbox_usb_windows_xp_guest_ubuntu_hardy. This website don’t says it works on Ubuntu 9.04 (Jaunty), so i tried and it worked.

I hope this is useful,
Matheus

PS: You have to select the device you want to use in virtual machine in “Device – USB DEVICES”

    I’ve been using Craybet for like two months now and thought I’d throw out what I think because there’s not much discussion about this place around here. Signed up on a whim and signing up was like 90 seconds. Starting deposit was $10 and that’s pretty standard. I grabbed a welcome bonus — 100 percent match to $500 plus 50 free spins on Sweet Bonanza. Playthrough requirements were 35x and that is kinda average but not the worst I’ve seen.

    Game selection is honestly pretty solid. They’ve got stuff from Pragmatic Play, Evolution, and Big Time Gaming — meaning Book of Dead, Gonzo’s Quest, all the popular ones. Probably close to 1500-2000 slots when you add it all up. Live dealer stuff runs on Evolution which is quality — played some baccarat and Crazy Time with actual croupiers and zero lag issues.

    Now the one thing I wasn’t thrilled about was withdrawal times. Tried cashing out with Bitcoin and waited like a day and a half the first time. After that though things sped up. They accept credit cards, Skrill, Neteller, Bitcoin so that covers pretty much everything you’d want. I’d check out what they’ve got going on over at CrayBet if you’re interested.

    Mobile experience on Craybet on my phone is actually smooth. There’s no app to download — the mobile site is responsive and slots and live games work fine. I played Book of Dead on the bus and had zero problems.

    Support at Craybet is decent — they have live chat that gets you a person within a few minutes usually. Reached out once about a pending withdrawal and got it fixed within hours. I think they’re Curacao licensed which is standard for offshore casinos. Not everything is amazing — promo codes seem rare — but for what it is it does the job for me.
