Ubuntu, VirtualBox 2.2 and USB

Published by Matheus (X-warrior) Bratfisch on April 25, 2009

Hello,

Now, with this new version of ubuntu, i will post alot about it while I’m trying configurations. I don’t want to teach how to install VirtualBox 2.2, because it’s a package .deb and is so easy to install it (Download Sun VirtualBox). In this post I want to remember that we should select the option “Enable IO APIC” in “Settings – General – Advanced”. (My version of WinXp doesn’t work without it). So if you system is not booting, verify this option. Now let’s go to enable USB in your Virtual machine.

You have to install “Guest Additions”, use the menu “Devices – Install Guest Additions”. (Don’t forget to mount it on your cd in virtualbox)

After you install it go to console:

$ grep vbox /etc/group
The result is something similar to this: vboxusers:x:gid:user

(If your user is not there, add it “System – Administration – Users and groups”)

Edit the file “mountkernfs.sh”:
$ sudo pico /etc/init.d/mountkernfs.sh

Go to the end of do_start(), and before the } add this line:
domount usbfs “” /proc/bus/usb usbdevfs -onoexec,nosuid,nodev,devgid=GID,devmode=644

(Replace the GID with your GID)

Save the file, reboot the computer and use your usb in your virtualmachine.

The site that make me try this way is http://www.davidgrant.ca/virtualbox_usb_windows_xp_guest_ubuntu_hardy. This website don’t says it works on Ubuntu 9.04 (Jaunty), so i tried and it worked.

I hope this is useful,
Matheus

PS: You have to select the device you want to use in virtual machine in “Device – USB DEVICES”

    Thanks for revealing your ideas here. The other matter is that when a problem develops with a personal computer motherboard, folks should not go ahead and take risk regarding repairing it themselves for if it is not done right it can lead to irreparable damage to an entire laptop. It is usually safe to approach the dealer of that laptop for that repair of the motherboard. They’ve technicians who may have an experience in dealing with laptop computer motherboard challenges and can make right diagnosis and undertake repairs.

    Signed up here roughly a season, so the honeymoon phase is long over. A friend from another forum pointed me at it, mainly because my old casino kept stalling cashouts. The True Fortune lobby runs to a few thousand titles, although in practice I stick to a dozen or so.

    Software comes from the usual names: Pragmatic Play, NetEnt, Play’n GO, plus some Red Tiger and Nolimit City. Sweet Bonanza and Book of Dead sit at the top of the list, though personally I prefer the higher volatility stuff. The live section is Evolution, meaning Crazy Time, blackjack and all the wheel formats. Dealers are on 24/7, though the low stake blackjack seats fill up in the evening.

    The sign-up bonus is nothing extraordinary but fair: a first deposit match with a batch of free spins, handed out across the first week. The playthrough is 35x, so nothing predatory but no gift either. Current codes and whatever promo is running are worth checking on true fortune casino since these change month to month. There is a small no deposit thing that appears now and then, although you will not retire on it.

    Signing up was quick, you can start from a tenner. Visa, Mastercard and the usual wallets are accepted, Bitcoin is an option as well. Cashouts to Skrill took under a day, card withdrawals were slower, as always. KYC was the one sticking point – I had to send the ID twice, but the second attempt cleared the same evening.

    On the phone I just use the browser so no install needed. It loads quickly, though live tables need decent data. Live chat replies in English and they actually read the question, wait times were three to five minutes. They hold a Curacao licence which is not the UK regulator, so play accordingly. The main thing is the money came back every time I asked.
