Hello,

This semester I have data structure class, my professor Aldo Von Wangenheim, decided to use C in the first part of the class, and in the end C++. If you don’t know it, he recommended this C course. He asked us to solve some exercices. Me and my colleague solved it and I’m uploading it here.

    OK — have been messing about with this thing for about five months now and I keep coming back, reckon I’d say something since someone asked me last week. I’m in the UK, mainly do football and horses, nothing mad, just so you know where I’m coming from.

    How I found it was honestly embarrassing — I could never get my head round what an each way return actually was with 1/5 odds a place. I’d just wing it and moan when the payout landed. Now type the odds in first, every time, even the boring singles.

    The single bet calculator tool is the one I open most — type in your stake, the odds and you get profit and total return with no faffing, either odds format. There’s also the multiples — doubles and trebles returns, lucky 15s, yankees, honestly that’s where I’d always got it wrong. Have a go yourself, it’s here bookies odds converter and there’s no login wall, which I appreciated.

    What actually changed how I bet was the more serious tools. There’s an implied probability converter which shows you the overround, and a kelly criterion tool — I use half kelly as the full version is far too aggressive. The dutch tool gets used a fair bit for when I’m splitting a race.

    Not all sunshine though. Its interface looks a bit basic — no frills, looks like it was built by someone who cares more about maths than colours. On mobile it’s usable although the bigger tables need a bit of scrolling. There’s no app, just the site — fine by me but you asked.

    Right, that’s me. Free, barely any ads, does the job. If you still works out returns on a calculator app, have a look — saves me a load of arguments with the bookie.

    What got me on it was genuinely pretty stupid — I never could work out what an e/w return would be once you get five places instead of three. Basically I’d guess and get a shock. Now I punch the numbers in before I place anything, even a simple single bet.

    The single bet calculator tool is the bit I use most — type in stake and odds and it spits out returns with no faffing, either odds format. There’s also the multiples — doubles and trebles maths, lucky 15 and lucky 63, patents and yankees, honestly that’s where most people I know mess it up. If you want a look, it lives at betting odds to probability and it’s free with no account nonsense.
